A joint innovation to optimize packaging without compromising functionality or product preservation
Collaboration between customers and manufacturers has become one of the main drivers of innovation in packaging development. Listening to market needs and turning them into practical solutions makes it possible to create packaging that is increasingly efficient, functional, and sustainable.
A good example is the project jointly developed by Florette and Envaflex, an Armando Alvarez Group company specializing in flexible packaging solutions, to create a new flexible lidding solution for fresh-cut vegetable trays designed for the foodservice industry.
A challenge focused on improving packaging
The project began with a clear objective: to improve packaging functionality, optimize the use of raw materials, and meet the specific needs of the foodservice industry, where product preservation, ease of use, and operational efficiency are critical factors.
The result was a new flexible lid that combines sealing and opening functions into a single solution. This design helps protect and preserve the product throughout its entire life cycle while making it easier to use during food preparation.
Innovation designed for greater efficiency
In addition to improving packaging functionality, the new solution significantly reduces raw material consumption through an optimized design. Compared with the previous solution, the new lid is 70% lighter, contributing to more efficient resource use without compromising packaging performance.
This innovation demonstrates how technological development can benefit both customers and the sustainability of the manufacturing process.
A project developed with the expertise of the Armando Alvarez Group
The development of this solution was made possible through the collaboration of several companies within the Armando Alvarez Group.
Envaflex led the development of the packaging solution in close collaboration with Florette, while Aspla contributed its expertise during the extrusion process, supporting the technical development of the material used in the new lid.
The combination of manufacturing capabilities, materials expertise, and extensive experience in flexible packaging made it possible to develop a solution tailored to the real needs of both the customer and the market.
Innovating alongside customers to create value
Projects like this reflect the way the Armando Alvarez Group works: partnering closely with customers to develop solutions that create value, improve operational efficiency, and address today’s challenges in the food packaging industry.
Collaborative innovation, technical expertise, and manufacturing specialization continue to be key pillars in driving the development of increasingly efficient and sustainable packaging solutions.
