On November 27th took place the I Event Transformadores (Converters), organized by ANAIP (Spanish Association of Plastics Manufacturers), held in Covarrubias The One (Madrid). This meeting brought together leaders of the plastics transformation sector, institutions and representatives of various industries to reflect on the challenges and advances in sustainability, innovation and its positive impact on society. In this context, Armando Alvarez Group was especially distinguished for obtaining the Excellence rating in the Spanish and Sustainable Plastics Industry Seal.
Converters: an event full of highlights
The day, led by journalist Gonzalo Bans, began with an interesting round table discussion with the participation of different companies in the sector. In this space, the speakers shared their views on the main challenges and opportunities facing the industry, from the circular economy to innovation in materials and processes. This enriching exchange set the tone for the event, focused on collaboration and constructive dialogue to transform the sector.
Among the most relevant moments was the awarding of the certificates of the Spanish and Sustainable Plastics Industry Seal, a distinction that recognizes companies that meet the highest standards in sustainability, innovation and social responsibility within the plastics industry. Within this framework, we are deeply honored to have received a special distinction during the event, because we are the only company to have achieved the Excellence rating, the highest score in evaluation for obtaining this seal.
This recognition, which was handed over by Roberto Media, Minister of Development, Housing, Land Planning and Environment of the Government of Cantabria, and received by our General Manager Ignacio Canales on behalf of Armando Alvarez Group, endorses our continuous effort to stand out in a sector that is evolving towards a circular model and our commitment to the integration of sustainability in a transversal manner. We strive to minimize our environmental footprint and improve our social and economic impact on the communities in which we operate, through an effective governance model. “Getting here has been a journey of reflection, hard work and innovation. It has required changing the company’s strategy and moving from a linear production model to a circular model, in which sustainability is transversal to the entire company,” said Ignacio Canales when he received the sculpture, which symbolized this distinction.
The Spanish Sustainable Plastics Industry Seal: commitment to sustainability and excellence
This seal, promoted by ANAIP, was officially presented a year ago and aims to highlight companies in the sector that are committed to responsible and sustainable practices, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the demands of the circular economy. Obtaining it guarantees that certified companies work under the principles of innovation, quality and sustainability, contributing to a more responsible industry.
Other milestones of the event
In addition to the presentation of certificates, the Converter Award was granted, which this year recognized ECOALF for its significant impact on society through innovative and sustainable initiatives. The Transformation Manifesto, a document that brings together the commitments and values of the sector to meet the challenges of sustainability and innovation in the coming years, was also presented.
Armando Alvarez Group recognitions: committed to sustainability and innovation in the plastics industry
At this event, we not only celebrated the recognition received for this qualification in the Spanish Sustainable Plastics Industry Seal, but also reaffirmed our ongoing commitment to sustainability. Throughout the last years, we have been highlighted in the UN Global Compact progress report in 2022, as an example of good practices in circular economy, and also by the UN Global Compact in 2024, for our good practices in sustainable agriculture. In addition, in 2023 we were awarded the prestigious “Outstanding Social Commitment Policy Award” by CEO-CEPYME in recognition of our efforts in promoting the welfare and improvement of the community of Cantabria.
