We are pleased to announce that Armando Alvarez Group is moving forward with firm steps, setting new decarbonization targets for 2033 approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This approval confirms that our goals align with the latest climate science and the objectives of the Paris Agreement.
This validation not only benefits the environment but also strengthens our market position, responding to the expectations of customers, investors, and all stakeholders.
This achievement is the result of years of intense and committed work within the Group to develop a rigorous and data-driven decarbonization plan. Since 2023, we have been working to establish ambitious goals in all emission categories: scope 1 (direct emissions), scope 2 (indirect emissions from acquired energy), and scope 3 (indirect emissions, both upstream -from suppliers- and downstream -from customers, encompassing the entire value chain). Thanks to a transversal and collaborative approach, we have managed to define clear and achievable goals that not only meet global standards but also allow us to effectively move towards a significant reduction in CO2 emissions or greenhouse gases.
We set ambitious emission reduction targets
The validation of our targets by SBTi reinforces our commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. We commit to reducing absolute greenhouse gas emissions from scopes 1 and 2 (those emissions resulting from our own activities) by 55.2% by 2033, taking 2023 as the base year. Additionally, we will work in collaboration with our partners and suppliers to reduce scope 3 emissions (indirect emissions from the value chain, including suppliers, goods transportation, and the use of sold products) by 34.7%, promoting sustainable practices throughout our value chain.

The importance of setting science-based targets
Setting science-based emission reduction targets ensures that our actions effectively contribute to mitigating climate change and strengthen our commitment to sustainability. Unlike voluntary strategies without technical support, SBTi-validated targets are based on the latest scientific advances and provide a clear and transparent roadmap for reducing our carbon footprint.
Adopting this approach not only minimizes risks associated with climate change, such as energy cost volatility or stricter future regulations, but also strengthens our market competitiveness. Companies with ambitious, science-based climate goals are increasingly valued by customers, investors, and other stakeholders seeking strategic partners committed to the transition to a low-carbon economy.
Moreover, this process drives innovation within our organization, promoting the development of sustainable solutions, process optimization, and improvement of our operational efficiency. Contributing to global emission reduction targets not only protects the planet but also positions us as leaders in environmental responsibility, generating a positive long-term impact for both our business and society.
About Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)
SBTi is a business climate action organization that arises from the collaboration between the United Nations Global Compact, the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) . Its purpose is to promote science-based emission reduction targets, facilitating the transition to a low-carbon economy.
For these targets to be approved, they must align with the Paris Agreement, which seeks to limit the global temperature increase to less than 2°C above pre-industrial levels, with efforts to not exceed 1.5°C.
Additionally, it provides methodologies, tools, and sector-specific guides to facilitate planning and monitoring of decarbonization. It also offers advice, training, and educational resources to help companies in their transition to a low-carbon economy. By validating their targets with SBTi, companies gain greater transparency, recognition, and credibility before customers, investors, and other stakeholders, reinforcing their commitment to sustainability.
