Transportes Mixtos Especiales, S.A. (TRAMESA), the railway logistics operator for the Armando Alvarez Group, received the certification of its carbon footprint issued in 2021 by RENFE, acknowledging their contribution to sustainable freight transportation.
During that year, 83% of this traffic was by electrically-powered vehicles, using energy from renewable sources with certificate of guaranteed origin and ZERO CO2 emissions. These emissions are certified following the standards:
- Standard ISO 14067: Determines the principles to quantify greenhouse gases during the process or life cycle.
- Standard EN 16258: Determines the methodology used to estimate and declare energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions by freight and passenger transportation services.
- Leaflet R330 by the Worldwide Railway Organisation (UIC): Establishes the key environmental management indicators defined by the Worldwide Railway Organisation.
The emissions saved by using this transportation method in 2021, compared to the emissions from the same traffic by road, is estimated at 21,844.80 MT of CO2.
